PROBIOTIC SKIN FOOD AKA ESSE ORGANICS

Before I start my excitement I first I need to deem that this is not a paid marketing scheme! It's just me—a girl with a new skin passion—a product I stumbled across when we landed our feet on South African soil—A product too good not to share, because I love women! and I love health!

After over 30 hours of air travel I started our African stint feeling like a dehydrated crusty caterpillar. My skin was dry upon dry. After a week of using various products that didn't seem to hydrate the mess my skin was in I decided to visit the local health food shop and get a proper skin consultation. I've never really been one to give my skin a lot of attention, rather—I've been out having fun frying it as I've chased the sun most my life (silly girl). Approaching 34 I thought it might be time to actually start a regime. So when the lovely lady behind counter told me about Esse and handed me the Cocoa sugar scrub and the Ultra moisteriser I felt very grown up and Luxe spending a little bit extra on something that I'd hope to hydrate and heal my skin. Little did I know that new skin obsession would begin.

I think the thing that has been most pleasant about this is making time and a new little ritual overnight post daily adventures with my four year old. It's a nice feeling going to bed feeling beautiful and fresh and as though I made some time to look after myself. After all, the body is a temple.

About a year before I found ESSE I decided to make the big switch and swap all my make-up and beauty products to all organic and nasty/chemical free. I have a very deep passion for health which I don't talk a lot about via social streams because the internet is saturated with a lot of options and sometimes it's so loud! but it is in fact a sincere love of mine that I navigate with my family behind the scenes. So making the switch from general products to organic/chemical free changed so much for me, particularly my hormone + energy levels and general health. My body was no longer trying to detox all the chemicals from all the different products I was putting onto my skin. It's a costly change over so I did it product by product until I was in the all organic and chemical free zone. It took about 6 months to change it all over. Once you educate yourself on this womanly and wonderful info you can't turn back and erase what you know about skin care and the damage we cause ourselves long term using products with harsh chemicals that are found in most make-up and skin care. I love that God created a beautiful earth with natural flora, fibres and minerals to add health to our bodies! What a beautiful thought! In my change over I even went as far as changing toothpaste, deodorant and my shampoo + conditioners. I love the fact that everything I put on my skin adds to me rather then takes away. Health is holistic.

So... After a week of using the Essential Cocoa scrub and ultra moisturiser post flight time I knew I had stumbled on a winner. The Cocoa scrub is pure luxury and rather then scrubbing your face dry it adds hydration while it removes the dead skin. The ultra moisturiser post scrub felt like a waterfall of hydration on my face. My skin dramatically hydrated within the first use.

So I jumped on-line and learnt more about ESSE and was even more excited to learn about their ethos and processes and why their products are so GOOD!!!!! Infused with probiotics!!!! Fair trading, vegan, ethical farming and so much more!!!! I was excited to get more of the range and see the vast effects of some self care!

SO...

I reached out to ESSE a few weeks back and put forward a creative idea to use the entire skin care range and do a 10 week challenge journalling my experience. And if you're wondering—No, I'm not a paid ambassador, Just a girl passionate about this new find with a crazy idea! When I like something—I like something! When I believe in something—I really believe in it! I'm a girl with a heart on fire! I wanted to see (because I believe it to be true) if natural products after meticulous and daily use could in fact have the same results as all the new brands (full of chemicals) popping up deeming to change skin and combat dehydration/sun damage.

So the products arrived and I'm just about to begin recording my daily regime for 10 weeks and will share the results at the end of my skin loving!!!! What a gift for the entry of my 34th year of life!!!!

So in summary - why am I fussing over these products??? In brief—Optimal skin condition depends on the probiotic microbes living on and in it. Without microbes, your skin can’t perform its basic functions and the rate of skin ageing increases sharply.

Esse creates an environment on the skin that favours the growth of beneficial microbes. It uses probiotics to selectively feed good microbes and includes LIVE probiotic microbes in two of the serums to make functional changes to the skin’s microbiome. Esse does not believe in damaging skin in pursuit of short-term results, it optimises skin health to slow ageing in the long-term.

Since our inception, we have remained true to our core principles: We're certified organic, vegan and cruelty free. We support fair trade and are a carbon neutral company.

AND... IT'S CERTIFIED ORGANIC!

Esse has subscribed to the Ecocert organic standards since its inception. Ecocert enforce minimum organic percentages and ban ingredients that they deem to be unsafe or unsustainable. They also audit the production facility and ensure full traceability of all raw materials.

Ecocert regulates the packaging used. They make sure that the materials are safe for the consumer and don’t leach into the product over time. They also oversee the recyclability of the packaging materials.

AND... IT'S FAIR TRADE!

Esse is committed to the Fair Trade of natural products and we are an accredited partner of PhytoTrade Africa. PhytoTrade Africa is dedicated to the development of Fair Trade and environmentally sustainable natural products. PhytoTrade oversees the sustainable harvest of plants from the wild by rural communities in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Malawi, Botswana, Swaziland and South Africa. The equitable trade in natural products has raised the standard of living of tens of thousands of people.

I'll share my step by step regime soon, with imagery along the way. I'm also using the last bit of my Aesop toner in amongst this 10 week challenge (I was half way through my bottle) and the Mukti roller derma before toning. In the mean time check out ESSE for yourself! LOVE THESE GUYS!!!!

ALL MY LOVE
